It seems that recently every time I get drunk, even if its not *that* drunk, I cant remember big chunks of the evening. it only used to happen when I was paralytic drunk, but recently its been happenin more often...

I'm going to say yes it is very bad. Try to not drink so often, try differant drinks. If I drink wine I get hammered on hardly anything meaning less of a hangover and feel much better throughout the night.

I recently tried to not drink for a week, didnt work! After four days I was in the pub, 7 pints :crazyeyes :crazyeyes :crazyeyes

    Very funny Mr Roll.

ryoko_rock, that sounds pretty serious.... I am checking with some more knowledgeable sources but as far as I know blackouts and memory loss occur at high doses. Perhaps if it is happening more frequently at lower doses, your body is finding it more difficult to break the alcohol down.

You could always have a look at the alcohol resources on
Erowid for more info in the mean time.....

If you dont mind me asking, how often are you drinking?

As LadyJade touched on, its not always the dose with alcohol that really is the most important factor. It is the chance you give your body to absorb and break down the alcohol.

You have to remember that it is a poison and your body has to work quite hard to fight against it.

Although its a over used concept you might want to 'de-tox' your system, drink loads of green tea and milk thistle to clean out your kidneys and liver a bit.

Hi ryoko-rock, I spoke to my friend last night who has worked as a clinical nurse specialist in an alcohol unit.

Of course it is very difficult to say without knowing a lot more about you! But in his personal opinion, it sounds like you may be drinking too regularly and/or too much. Needless to say, he was of the opinion that you should take this quite seriously, especially considering that you are still young. I'm not suggesting that this is the case for you, but he suggested that your symptoms could be generally indicative of an alcohol dependency.

Here is a link to a chart on Erowid that tells you what percentage of alcohol may be in your blood after drinking, and what effect it has.

This is the page from the drugscope website with info on what a 'unit' of alcohol is....

And theSite's pages have lots of info too, including the number for Drinkline (0800 917 8282). You could also try talking to someone at NHS Direct - 0845 46 47, or speak to your GP.

Sorry, that all sounds a bit heavy, but it does sound quite concerning......

Well , if you are drinking often , you memory might be impaired , weaker , so now even drinking not that much will make ya forget...heh just a theory...

Are you taking a prescription medecine? Maybe theres some interaction...
