Double Warning

First is about the lovely MyDoom-B variant of the MyDoom virus. Attaches itself as a .zip file, which is really an executable, double click and you are infected. It will then email itself to as many people as possible, from both your email address (for example: john@isp.com) plus spoof a load of other similar addresses (jim@isp.com asdfa@isp.com maggie@isp.com bloodyvirus@isp.com) Bit of a nasty one, but you can with some common sense, you should all be fine. Another tell tale sign is that the subject of the email will be random letters.

WARNING YOU CAN ALSO GET THIS VIA THE KAZAA NETWORK, SO MP3 FANS BEWARE!!!

Next net naughty is a lovely vulnerability found yesterday in (yet again) Microsoft's Internet Explorer. It allows people to spoof the extension of a file that you are trying to download, which you then try and open, and will then pretty much do anything it wants to your machine. For example, you try to download a document on whatever called info.doc, but it is really info.exe which then starts erasing everything on your hdd.

More info on this one can be found here
and an example (non harmful, but have a look, says its a .pdf file and is really a .html) can be tested here.

Thats all from todays edition of Microsoft Sucks and cant secure anything.
