Insect Bites?!

Argh, well I woke up this morning and my lower back was seriously itching. I scratched it, and felt two small, strange lumps. I couldnt see so I guessed they must have just been squits, but they felt harder and smaller than just normal spots, so that was quickly ruled out. 
From what I could feel, they made me think of fang marks left by vampires if that gives any ideas as to what they looked like. There was no pus or anything, just itchiness...
Asked my mum to have a look, she suggested insect bites. Our house doesn't have fleas, so what other kinda bug could've bitten me during the night?!
My backs still a bit tingly but I havent had a look since
