is this a remake?

i have memories of a film with the same storyline and the same name from when i was younger, but i don't know if it's just that i'm going mad.

anyone know?

    heh. Yar it's a remake but the film is not remade to the original in much sense other than the central concept.

    it's a watchable film though, for entertainment purposes.

    there was also a made for tv version made in 1995 with Shelley Long (cheers) playing the mother.

    Yeah, the Jodie Foster film was on ITV last weekend. Its shit.
