Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I don't get that saying. Can someone please elaborate???

Does it mean that only you can judge whether you're beautiful of not? (Thats a TOTAL guess).

    Different people have different perceptions of 'beauty'.

    You will not find anyone who is universally attractive to everyone.

    Something along those lines.

    it means what someonethinks is ugly you may find attractive. Your different in everyones eyes. So just because one person thinks a thing about you, doesnt mean its true because another person thinks different. So who is right? They both are. Its therye eyes their seeing through.

    Let's move away from using the saying to describe people, and use it on something else. That may make it a bit clearer.
    Take cars for example. Some people find the Citroen 2CV, or the Volkswagen Beetle, to be ugly, while others think they're cute and adorable cars. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder with them. It means that what one person doesn't like, another does.
    Of course, when talking about people, there's more to it than just looks. There's personality too. But that's another matter, and brings the saying "Beauty is more than skin deep" into it.

    And that from the girl who likes the Subaru Imprezza? A pikey car if ever there was one. You can always take out the flower holder. I Think it's an optional extra anyway.

    a guy im into, a lot of people say he aint up to much, but i dont like him for his looks, i luv him for his personality and its cheesy i know but true

    which basically means the same thing. Whoever you fancy at the time, is the most beautiful.

    Philosopher Plato didnt think beauty was in the eye of the beholder. He thought everyone is born knowing innately what beauty is.
