I think if I saw that happen to somebody on a dull Monday morning it would sure as hell brighten up my day! :D

Oh and no I don't have any superstitions. Unless you count sacrificing a lamb once a week to keep the evil spirits out of my house.

my tutor room at school was an art room and had a blocked sink full of painty water most of the time. A guy there used to regularly get the random bones from the room, mainly the sheep skulls, and we'd have a 'sacrificing the lambs head to the pit 'ceremony.

    god, school was such fun.

    None.

I still don't see how anyone can believe in this shit :/

Though not walking under ladders is just common sense

i have the exact same fear.

one time i was waiting for my friend under a give way sign (the thin metal type, not the newer plastic ones), and it just fell right off the post. about 6 inches from my head

i had nightmares about that for weeks.

i also have issues with even numbers - think they're unlucky in some way, not sure why.

    single magpies make me nervous.

black cats. now, the english and the polish have different views on this. one says it's lucky if they cross your path, the other say it's unlucky. i figure either way i'm screwed.

Single magpies. Tho if I see loads I'm quite chuffed. Penny on the ground, and prob breaking mirrors as well. It's quite funny after Kaffrin's 'fear' of even numbers. My friend hates odd numbers. Anything that can be digitally controlled with a scale needs to be even. It drives her to distraction if it's not. Not a good plan to play with the volume control when she's driving...

    OOOMMMMGGGG!

You have Ozzy as your av :D I remember saying that he reminds me of you. :p

I dunno why that excited me.

And I have no superstitions. I do get funny about the 13th though. But my dad was born on the 13th so it kinda explains that. What an evil day.

I sleep with a knife under my matress and if I know what direction my head is pointng in, I won't sleep with it in the direction of south.

Still haven't had a bad dream for a while.

A knife under the mattress? Is that superstition? Cos I've never heard of that one before...

Yup, I have a book on it by Cunningham and looked up bedrooms and apparently it protects you from nightmares and stuff. It works for me, if only a placebo it works.

    That's a contradiction in terms :/

Anyway, you're using specious reasoning, surely you can't actually believe it?

How's it a contradiction? If it's a placebo and there is an improvement, then it's all pyschological and the item plays a large part in helping a person even if it doesn't work in the same way, say, antibiotics work.

Some of your superstitions are just plain loopy. I don't have any, and don't understand why people have them. Ok, so not walking under ladders has some sense to it. But some like magpies, waving at graveyards, etc, are just unfathomable to me.

I suppose they all have some basis in tradition and people like tradition, even if it doesn't make sense...

Well, they kinda do, as the idea is you think they'll work, so you kinda cure yourself psychologically. It's a means to an end, kinda. Kinda kinda. But I don't want to argue with you because you scare me :(

Um, if they don't work, but do work, how's that not working? They don't work in a strict sense, like I already pointed out, but they work at a psychological level... That's why testers use placebos, to see if the thought of a cure messes with the actual test results. And if you've ever read It by Stephen King, the little boy in that who uses an inhalor is actually just using water vapour, but it stops his attacks because he thinks it works.

Yeah but my point is they don't actually *work*, people just trick themselves into believing they do.
