I thought this was gonna be an in-depth thread about how meaningful the whole advent thing was to you, and how greatly you rejoice in the warmth of such a meaningful time of the year for so many people around the world

But no, it's about a stupid piece of cardboard and pissy wee choccy things

my mum has issues with chocolate advent calendars. i got quite the lecture when i asked for one when i was younger.

something along the lines of: 'it's not about CADBURYS, it's about JESUS'.

when we were younger, we used to have advent calendars, but they were the normal kind, and when you opened the window you just got a picture of some inane christmas paraphernalia.

then on christmas eve you got a right big picture of jesus. w00t.

my mum bought me a barbie one! and I didnt buy my little girl one because i thought she was a bit young to be having chocolate for breakfast every morning, but then my mum made me feel guilty about it, going on about how she's a kiddy and its only for a month a year, and its all part of the fun of christmas and yadda yadda, so we went and got her one today. i felt bad. lol

We used to be like that, so we had it when we walked in from school.

I'm so off chocolate at the mo (have just lost a stone and a half, and dammit I am going to keep it off until Christmas!) but couldn't find a non-chocolate advent calendar. Admittedly, didn't look too hard.

Sod advent calendars. I used to get excited about them, until I was about 7 or 8, then they lost their appeal. Now the only way to get kids interested in them is to make them tacky and nasty, with cheap nasty chocolate in them. Sod that. I'll just go out and buy a big bar of choc on the 24th and scoff it all! And I'll have the advantage of not having a piece of cheap cardboard with cheesy picture nailed to my wall.

Ive never had chocolate advent calendar Mom was furious when I ate the chocolate in my brothers' choc calendars one year... Now I wonder why I didn't get a choc calendar when my brothers did..

I remember everyone in my grade school got to pick a window and get one of the chocolates out during December and such. Seems so damn long ago. Well, acutually, it was quite some time ago.
