Family's and holidays

If you spend holiday time with your family, do you do it because it's one of the few times you get to see them, and you want to see them, or do you do it because deep down you feel obligated to go?

My parents want me to come down for Thanksgiving (tomorrow) They are going to my grandmothers house so instead of a 6 hour drive, it is only a 4 hour drive. I feel no desire to spend this holiday with them. I may be being selfish, but I don't want to wake up early, drive 4 hours, eat, watch a football game and drive back just to spend a pointless over commericalized holiday with them. I'll get there, I'll spend the whole time listening to my parents bitch about my weight, my smoking, my unemployment and so much more.

But thru all of that, I can't manage to actually tell them that I don't want to go. I don't have the heart to say, hey, I'm not coming down tomorrow.
