Pop-ups

I got this from the Mirror newspaper.

Q CAN you help me to get rid of a pop-up window from Messenger Service advertising a porn website that keeps repeating at regular intervals?

A THE Messenger Service is part of Windows NT, 2000 and XP, and it's particularly prone to this sort of abuse. Fortunately, you probably don't need it and it's easy to switch off. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Services and double-click Services. Find the Messenger item in the list and double-click it. Click the Stop button and change the Startup Type to Manual. Finally, click OK and close the Services window.

When I get to the list however, it isn't obvious which is the messenger icon. Does anyone know which one it is (I use windows 2000)?
Thanks

Look at this here. Whoops, for some reason that didn't work.

Looks like your gonna have to paste the below address in your browser.

Look to the left of the picture it will say start.. ignore that and on your one you will have turn-on/off - just click turn off.

Thanks for that. Thing is I don't have an icon that says 'messenger' in services, it seems to be the only thing that's missing but i still get pop ups.
Could it have another name but there's something called WMDM PMSP service that doesn't have a description, could this be it?
