please help chaps

cus i'm well ghetto and shit i'm usin my well old pc at uni. its running on windows 98 and is in a constant of state of 'safe mode' but isn't actually in it. i.e it will say it is normal mode but the colors are bollox and everything is visually much bigger. meaning i can't use programes such as cubase etc...

any ideas on the problem?

    Try:

    Right click on your desktop>>>Properties>>>Settings

    Try changing the colour depth(32bit) and screen resolution(1024x768). You'll see what I mean.

    nope doesn't work. won't let me change it higher than 16 color, which i seriously doubt it is,

    If ou have your CD to your graphics card them try reinstalling them. Let me know if you have then we will try something else.

    cubase doesn't need direct x does it?

    Which version of Cubase are you running?

    I do know acouple of virus' that get you stuck in safe mode/

    Try this:
    Restart computer
    Keep hitting F8 as soon as the memory test is done.
    You'll get an menu with startup options.
    Try to startup in Normal Mode
    if it not works try to run scandisk on the partition where windows is installed

    Also try scanning for a virus. I do think that it's the drivers for your graphics card.

    I'd say it;s probably your graphic card drivers. You should be able to download em from the internet if you find out what it is.
