Its great to hear the sodding Socialist Alliance wittering on again about how evil Bush is, and about he shouldn't be in this country. Do these people ever shut up?
Its all well and good saying Bush is a murdering scumbag, and that Guantanamo Bay is illegal, but everyone seems to miss the point that these people DESERVE it. The "Britons" who went and fought for Saddam shouldnt EVER be allowed back into the UK, and they should be grateful that theyre in Guantanamo Bay and not over here, because traitors can still be hanged. Do not forget that the people in Guantanamo Bay are criminals, implicated in Al Qaeda's atrocities. Anyone who feels the slightest bit of sympathy for the terrorists should go and speak to the families of those who died on 9/11, terrorists the world over must be stopped, and if it takes the camp in Cuba to teach them that no-one messes with America then so be it.
You don't see many Americans complaining.
And Saddam had what was coming to him too. hes shown before what little respect HE has for sovereign nations, why the hell should we show any respect for his murderous regime? The Iraqis were dancing in the streets when he was gone, and the only thing we did wrong was that we didnt say that wed shoot looters on sight. That would have stopped a lot of problems with the thieving Arabs. Saddam had links to Al Qaeda- he DID have training camps in Northern Iraq- and that should be justification enough, so what if there arent any WMDs? There were in 1991, so there will be now, somewhere.
The simple fact is that the war was necessary for us to protect ourselves against terrorism, and in the process save the Iraqis from serious human rights abuses. And all these whining anti-war protestors have yet to come up with a better way of preventing terrorism, and of protecting our safety.
Let the Commies take charge and well all be going to hell in a handcart.

if 9/11 has to be used for any kind of justification for thr fight against terrorism ...then we should have gone to war with suadi arabia.
osama hated saddam! saddams iraq was full of bars and clubs ...very un islamic. and to mention commies ...if you read this weeks sunday times ...big article about the russians occupying afghanistan and the people almost to a man said that the country was at it's best then and probably ever! the 'commies' ...were building schools and hospitals, roads and other infrastructure ...but the CIA didn't like it so funded osama and his merry men to wreck it!!!!!!!!!!!
while saddam was in control of iraq ...there were jobs galore, foriegn contractors all over the place ...night clubs and shopping centres thriving and then came bush 1 ...10 yrs of sanctions ...then bush 2 ...not much in the way of jobs, electricity, fresh water ...or peace and security.
Fuckin'ell.
Apart from the fact that its breaching the Geneva Convention and International Law and the total and utter hypocrisy of the US when talking about regimes that breach human rights, these people have been detained without trial and some of them are probably innocent. But even if they're not, they are still entitled to a fair trial.
I'm shocked and angry at how anyone with any respect for justice and law can support the actions of the US in Camp X-Ray.
and this smells of racism.
btw, Saddam had no links with Al-Qaeda. This is well known.
Theyre Arabs. Theyre thieves. Whats racist?
It is a well documented fact that Saddam DOES have links to Al Qaeda, if he didnt do you think there would be training camps in Northern Iraq? Whatever the belief differences, dont ever think anything other than thy enemy's enemy is thy friend.
Its the same in Syria and Libya, dont be naive and think otherwise.
If youre gonna play neo-con then perhaps some new material might be in order? This has all been covered and dispelled long ago.
Might do;)
Id much rather just keep fliogging the same dead horse, if its all the same:p
Its like having PNJ back all over again. Now wheres my subscription to the NYP...
you know full well the connotations of a phrase like that.
The last time I did a google around this, the consensus seemed to be that there was no link. Please prove me wrong.
Disprove my assertation if you feel that strongly.
First thing off Google
Case closed.
By whom?
Even the Guardian aren't sure...
What do you think they should have said? "Oh hello, the UK was getting a bit boring, and cold so i decided to take a trip to the Middle East with my trusty AK and semtex belt."
They deserve to have been shot on the spot in Afghanistan, at least then we wouldn't have "contravened their human rights" lol.
Exactly. Though I dont think Camp X-Ray is the best thing, we still have hanging on the statute book for High Treason for a reason.
If they want to play war with their Terrorist buddies, let them take the consequences.
Putting aside the question of what to do or not to do with non-Afghans, the fact remains that the majority of people there were only guilty of defending their country against a foreign invasion. That the US is using the argument that they weren't wearing "Afghani army uniforms" and therefore they can be considered unlawful combatants and be treated like dogs is disgusting and pathetic in equal measure.
Fact is most of those people there belonged to the Taliban and were the official (and only) army Afghanistan had at the time. That the Taliban was a hideous regime does not mean that its members can be illegally imprisoned and tortured with no regard for the Geneva Convention.
The Bush administration seems to put a lot emphasis in the importance of patriotism; well, this is what the great majority of prisoners in Gitmo are: patriotic soldiers who defended their country against a foreign invader.
The continuation of that abomination of justice only serves to (rightly or wrongly) increase the hatred for the US and its soldiers everywhere.
They will never step foot on UK soil again. They will be hunted down and lynched within days if they were.
the MAJORITY were conscripts not terrorists.
some are poor farmers, some it has been said are mentaly handicapped and were in the wrong place at the wrong time. many knew nothing of 9/11.
those who support americas inhumanity and contravention of international law ...could find yourselves in that position one day ...then you'll squeel.
Amnesty Int (Death Penalty)
The foreign nationals who are there, including British and American should be executed for aiding and abetting a terrorist organisation and for treason against the state.
Nuff said.
I don't want any treasonous, scummy arseholes setting foot back in this country, they don't deserve to be here and if their families can't see that then stuff them. They forfieted their citizenship when they were found cowering and pooing their pants in a dusty Afghan cave.

One man spent nearly a year of brutal sleep deprivation and other torture along with questioning for daring to seek information on the whereabouts of his friend, a fellow cab driver in Kabul.
This is a witch hunt plain and simple and is squarely under the veil of secrecy and spin that is the stock and trade of the Pentagon.
I would seriously question the reality behind the rhetoric of what we are doing in Afghanistan as much as what we are doing in Iraq if you wish to gain any understanding of the dirty game this administration is playing to strengthen our hegemony in the region. It's results will prove far more disasterous in the long run than the valiant claims of greater security being spewed out by media pundits.
I cant keep this neo-Con lark up, its rotting my brain cells.
Whowhere, do you want to know how many Afghans were involved in 11/9? 4? 3? 1?
Er, none.
Therefore your point is spurious.
