i havejust been to the doctors and she has put me on a course of anti biotics that should last a week and its my 21st on thursday and i was going to have my celebrations on saturday. i cant even drink :(

not impressed at all :crying: :mad:

    I drink anyway, and im always on anti-biotics, oops! know i shouldnt but all it does is send me slitley more hyper.

    dont do this. you need to run the full course for one set period of time for them to be effective. stopping for a day will only give the bacteria or whatever it is to start growing again. thats the reason you must also complete the correct course.

    Yeah true. A one off wold be ok surely? I have done this a few times.
    No medical person would advise this but most people do stuff like this. If you dont feel happy doing it, then dont do it.
    It is your 21st though!

    i dunno what to say :( *hugs* - you could leave them off till after your 21st but ur likely to just feel worse and worse and worse till then... or you could just not drink the alchohol (sorry if im breaking some kinda unwritten law there :p) *huggles*

    Eat some probiotic yogurt or something like that .. the antibotics kill the good bacteria as well as the bad, a lot of people suffer tummy probelsm after a long time on antibiotics cos they kill all the bacteria that helps you digest food.

    Its a great excuse to have 2 get togethers for your birthday. The 1st on your bday then one after where you can have a really good p iss up!!! I really wouldnt drink and take the antibiotics also you need to take the full course.

    To be honest, even if you do miss them for that one day they will still be in your system. it takes 2 days for anti-biotics to get out of the system. I'd advise not to drink. 21st or not. Celebrate it next week.

    aaahh ... conflicting replies. dont know what to do. cheers for all your words of support though :) i'll let ya know what happens. its crazy cos im already having 2 21sts as it is. my birthday is on thursday and i am not doing anything for it so i was going to go out on saturday cos most of my friends are here. hmmm ... play it by ear methinks :)

    Just to reiterate what the others have said. Best to take your course and celebrate properly the week after. You really don't want to spend your twenty-first paraletic in a puddle of vomit, do you? (Sorry foul image but it may well happen!)
    Think of something nice but non-alcoholic to do on the day such as a comedy club, theatre or girlie night in and then have a proper piss up later.

    Stay on the anti-biotics, and put your cellebration off for another week or so until you've finished them. Then go out and get plastered properly.
    Alternatively, try and enjoy a night without drink.
