hypothyroid and weight

I've heard that having a thyroid problem can affect your weight. A while ago I found out I had hypothyroid, and also for a while I have been loosing weight. Could this be related? And once I start medication for this will the weight come back?

    Being hypothyroid myself, its fucking hard to control your weight but it isnt impossible. When your medication (Thyroxine) level is right its not so bad. It can be hard to get it right tho.
