June is here, and so is our Pride Month Art Competition! This June, we invite YOU to celebrate the themes of inclusion, self-acceptance, and belonging through your creative expression. Whether you're an artist, writer, or both, this is your chance to share your voice and be part of something special.
How to Participate
  • Create your artwork: This can be a visual piece (e.g., drawing, painting, digital art) or a piece of creative writing (up to 450 words). Your submission should celebrate the themes of inclusion, self-acceptance, and/or belonging. Feel free to explore personal stories, reinterpretations of the pride flag, portrayals of your favorite queer characters, or even a comic strip offering advice on coming out— anything goes, and let your imagination run wild!
  • Submit your work: Send your artwork/creative-writing as a PDF attachment to our staff team at community@themix.org.uk email address. The email title should read "PRIDE ART COMPEITION ENTRY" and in your email, please may you also tell us the name of your piece of artwork / writing (it could also be called 'Untitled'!)
  • Deadline: All submissions must be received by 3pm on Friday, 27th June 2025.
  • Who can take-part? Everyone is welcome to take part if you'd like to, whether you identify as LGBTQIA+ or an ally. You also don't have to be an artist or a writer. Maybe you'd like to give painting a go for the very first time! Or you'd like to try writing a poem! What matters more than anything is the heart you put into it.
Community Voting & Feedback

The best part is that YOU also get to choose the winner, whether you're taking part as an artist/writer, or would like to be part of our voting panel! Everyone is welcome to get involved.
Voting Weekend: Over the weekend of 28th–29th June, we'll post a thread on our community boards showcasing all entries (anonymised). Alongside, we'll share a Microsoft Form where you will:

  1. Vote for your favourite artwork.
  2. Leave a piece of positive feedback for each entry too.
  3. We will then announce the winner on Monday 30th June to end Pride month with a bang!

Every participant will also then receive an email listing all the lovely, positive feedback you received on your artwork! So even if you're not the winner, everyone has something to take away.
What’s at Stake?

Winner Announcement: The winning entry will be announced on Monday, 30th July 2025.

Prize: To be revealed!!

Got Any Questions?
We can't wait to see how you express the themes of inclusion, self-acceptance, and belonging! If anyone has any questions at all or would like to make an entry but is unsure, please DM the Staff Team or simply pop your question below. We'll be here!

@Leyla @Sian321 ive wrote a poem for this but I don’t understand what I do now?

Also I think it might be to long the poem?
Sometimes when the people most like you don't love you, it is a hurt that can cause the greatest pain, and this pain can lead you to hate everything.

Hey @Rose113 lovely stuff so to submit your poem please send it to us as a PDF document. You can email it to community@themix.org.uk and make sure the title of the email is "PRIDE ART COMPETITION ENTRY". Please also let us know the title of your poem.

And do you know how many words your poem is? Ideally we're looking for a maximum of 450 words.

Heyya @Rose113 can I check where you've typed up your poem? Is it on Word?

Also no worries about it being 204! That's well within our word limit, we just ask no more than 450 words. It's up to you if you would like to add to it but there's no pressure!

Okay so on the document where your poem is @Rose113 , if you select:

File > Download > PDF Document

You should be able to save it as a PDF. Here's a screenshot of what it should look like:

@Katie do I have to format the poem so it looks like how it would if it’s in a book?

Hey @Rose113 it's your piece of work so you can format it however you would like. You can just send it as it is if you like - the art is your writing!
