If you haven't heard the news yet, The Mix and Mental Health Innovations are merging.

What this means for your account
As part of the merger, we've been working behind the scenes to make sure your data stays safe and that we comply with all the right laws and policies in our new charity.

Currently, The Mix is the 'data controller' (a legal term) of your personal data you may have shared with us when registering your account or in posts from the discussion boards.

From 20 September 2024, MHI will be 'data controller' of all personal data that you agree to transfer. We need to request your consent to The Mix transferring your personal data that it holds in relation to you to MHI. That means you need to opt-in to a new policy indicating you're happy with the transfer.

If you opt-in, we know that you're happy for MHI to hold your account and your data. If you don't opt-in, that's completely fine - it's up to you whether you want to - but your account and data will be deleted.

What do I need to do?
You should recieve an email tomorrow. We'll update this thread when we've sent it to you.

In the email, there will be a link to a form. You'll need to read the new privacy policy and agree to it if you're happy with it. You must do this by 11:00am on the 26th to keep your account.

Alternatively, you can DO IT RIGHT NOW using this form.

We'll keep reminding you all over the next week to make sure you do this.

If you opt-in, you will keep your account and data.

If you don't opt-in, your posts will be anonymised and your account will be deleted.

EDIT: Deadline changed to 11:00am on the 26th rather than midnight on the 25th.

EDIT 2: The email asking you to opt-in has been sent out. If you don't see it, check your junk folder!

    I think I’ve done it. Now just to remember I don’t have to do it again when the email comes in.

    Top tip: when you enter your username on the form, copy and paste it so it's definitely correct. Your username will need to be an exact match for the system to recognise you. So the safest way to enter your exact username is to copy and paste it from here. :)

    Yes please check for me if you can as I’m worried I’ve typed the username in wrong.

    Oh! I don't think it matters whether it's a capital or not.

    To be safe, go with whatever the version is on your posts. That's the same version moderators see when we're trying to find you on our system. (But I don't think the capital matters!)

    I imagine that would've been the one for either YV or the newsletter if you were signed up for either of those. The community email however hasn't been sent (yet) so the link here would be the accurate one for the boards and chatwee I believe:)

    That might be the newsletter email, unless you’re in a youth voice group. You’ll need to do this one as well if you’re wanting to keep your account on these boards.

    Also, will we need to do this for chat aswell @JustV? Or is chatwee different, or will we have to register again?

    Yeah the others are right @VicK_torious. There are a few different kinds of opt-in emails floating around and the more different things you do with The Mix, the more of those you'll get. I suspect the one you received already was one for your volunteering role. :)

    You'll need to do this in addition to that, and you can either do it using the form linked in the main post or by waiting for the email to reach you (which will be pretty soon).

    Yeah I’ve had the email now too, so hopefully everyone else has. Queue a load of people being online later when they see it lol.

    Question: I'm signed up with a different email for chatwee does this impact this?

    Edit: like I've got the same email on everything apart from chatwee so should I leave it or fill out the form again using my other email?

    So this is separate - there won't be a process like this for Support Groups (Chatwee).

    You'll hear more about this later, but for Support Groups everyone will just need to sign up again. But you don't need to worry about that, we'll keep you in the loop. :)

    So to answer your question: all that matters is your login for this platform.
