Worrying about my health

I’ve been having takeaways quite frequently lately, and it’s starting to worry me. Last week, I had about five takeaways, and this week, I’ve already had two. In total, that means I’ve had around seven takeaways in the past seven days, which is more than double the recommended amount. I find it challenging to say no when offered, especially because I enjoy the food and don’t want to feel left out. Today, for instance, there wasn’t much food available at home, so my only options were basic like cheese and toast, which made the takeaway seem like a more appealing choice.

My family has noticed the frequency and expressed concerns, suggesting that such a pattern could lead to health issues. This has added to my anxiety. I’m worried about the potential for weight gain and related health problems from this eating pattern. It’s not just about immediate health; I’m also concerned about the long-term impact of these choices. I understand that taking control of my health is crucial, and I want to find a balance where I can still enjoy food without compromising my well-being.

Additionally, I find it hard to say no to social invitations for meals. While I do enjoy the occasional takeaway, having them too often has diminished the pleasure I get from them. I realize that moderation is key, and I should consider taking a break from takeaways to improve my overall health and enjoy them more in the future. I’m committed to reducing my intake to avoid potential health issues and achieve a better balance in my diet. I know I have posted about this stuff a few times but I do worry about this stuff.

hey @TheNightmare thanks for posting and reaching out with this. I know you won't be alone in experiencing this as food can always be really tricky because there are so many things to think about and balance - convenience, time, socialising, health, lifestyle and many more things!

I can hear you're concerned about the takeaways in relation to your health, and number one thing to remember is that your health (which includes your mental health) and happiness is the most important thing! I can hear in your message that you know what a good course of action is for you personally, and you've recognised that the number of times you were having them has actually made you more anxious about your health and enjoy them less as well. It's great to recognise both of those things as enjoyment is also massively important and hopefully by recognising this and making that change you'll feel better too :)

I had a quick question actually - you mentioned a few reasons you might have had more this week. Do you find that it's usually because you're socialising with people so eating them with them, have limited other options at home, convenience or another reason? Or all of them equally?

@EmLiz Hey, thanks so much for understanding and the kind words! It means a lot. Its not really been for social reasons recently. It's probably been more due to limited options at home and the convenience factor. Balancing everything can be tough, but your message really helps put things into perspective. Thanks again!
