Firstly, objectification. By which I mean viewing someone as an object for use is not ok. The models in The Sun are objectified in a way that should not be a social norm. Page 3 is built on that, but you can't take it all down at once. You need to start somewhere, and I think that page 3 is as good a place as any to start the reinvention of the media towards sex being healthy, porn being entertainment, and women being respected in all sizes & shapes.

If you heard it and saw it and experienced it with the kind of regularity that most girls do then I suspect 99% of men wouldn't be so quick to pass it off as being from a minority or try telling us how we shouldn't be feeling the way we do about it because it's a COMPLIMENT.

I thought she was really insightful. I liked when she said something along the lines of 'Just because I had a happy childhood doesn't mean that I wont get a mental illness. I was an in-patient in an adult psychiatric hospital; though I was still young I was glad I was put there instead of the adjacent young people's psychiatric unit. It must be tough for staff because they're dealing with the vulnerability of being an adolescent as well as the vulnerability that comes with having a mental health issue. Not to dilute what any of the young people are going through because they are evidently unwell but at times it must be difficult to separate 'normal' teen feelings to ones that signify there is something more going on. At times as a teen I felt like I was going crazy.

The title basically says it, I'm a month clean tonight from s/h and I've never been this proud of myself. It may sound silly to say that but oh well. I've just been dying to share this with someone all day!haha but haven't been able to cause its not something you can causually drop into a conversation.
