How important are cruelty free products to you?

Since doing my degree (animal science related) and becoming more aware of animal welfare in general I've been trying to shop cruelty free where I can. I'm not sure how many of you are aware about the EU ban on cosmetics tested or with ingredients tested on animals coming in next month linky. Just wanted to get an idea of peoples opinions because from what I've gathered previously, people are generally pretty much against animal testing for cosmetics but not actively seek out cruelty free beauty products. So yeah, this will also be useful for my blog as I tend to write about cruelty free cosmetics in there.
