Girls wanting to ask out a guy

I have known this boy who is in most of my classes for 4 years now and we have become very good friends. Me and my friend both like him, but I like him much more than my friend and I have feelings for him. Whenever I am around him I am always smiling and just to see him brightens up my day. I would to like find out whether he likes me in the same way, and i would like to make it more serious and ask him out, how do I do this? Also should I risk my friendship for this guy? Last question how do I no if he likes me in the same way?

Any advice would be great I have been thinking about this for the last 2 weeks.
