what do people think about paying people who participate in research?
It is normal practice to reimburse participants in some way (normally cash), but when I say I want to offer a fiver to a drug user becasue they are participating in a study then people suddenly say it is wrong becasue they will spend the money on drugs. but this is no different from someone in a diabetes trial who uses the money to buy sweets or someone on a cardiovascular study using the fiver down the cafe and buying a breakfast.
