apparently its going to be made illegal to kiss in public. do you think this is a good idea, or over the top? i personally think its pathetic soon we won't even be able to hold hands in the street!

It depends what they mean by 'kissing.'

If they mean people groping each other and eating each other's faces in the middle of the pavement or in shops/restaurants/pubs etc, then I agree - some people apparently don't know when to stop, and it's not nice to see.

But if they just mean kissing on the lips, and in quiet places which aren't too obvious... then they've got another thing coming. How do they expect anyone to accept that?

Nice, sensible idea in theory, but in practice it just means they'll be kissing more in private, and doing heavier stuff without their parents or mature adults overlooking.

Yes...I agree with that. But I'm pretty sure it was under 15's only. In which case I agree with HunnyPot - it's good in theory but it won't stop them doing it, and worse in private.

We talked about it in IRC when it was on Newsround...it also said it would be illegal, but there would be no punishment for doing it. Which is like.... pointless

I don't see how this can be enforced, not least with tens of thousands of people 15 or under kissing. I think that it will be, in reality, an unenforcable and thus probably unsuccessful law. However, I presume that they assume that merely being law is a deterrent ('oh no, I musn't do it because I might be caught'), but I doubt very much that it will be.

What will happen if people are caught? Will they have their names in the all-important'black book of under-age kissing' which will remain until they are dead, just like the sex offenders list? Will they be summond to the magistrates' court and face the possibility of a £1,500 fine and a 6 month prison sentence or both? Get real - it's kissing.

I presume that parliament is doing this to perhaps try to reduce the underage pregnancy rate.

How do they define 'kissing'? Kissing on lips? A snog?

And, on the original topic, its unenforcable, therefore doesnt matter. Its not the first or last time the government has fucked up.

i think the real reason that they want to introduce this is because they want to stop peadophiles kissing under15s. but by doing that they have to say 'kissing under the age of 15 is wrong'. they dont actually want to stop 2 under 15yr olds kissing together which is why there is no punishment for them.

It's going to be really interesting, because they're going to have to define "peadophile" very carefully. By the sounds of things, the easiest way to do they would be to class it as anyone over 16...
so a 17 with a 15 year old partner kissing would be illegal.

Some people find porn and indecent exposure offensive. Fair enough, you have to draw the line somewhere, but that does not include kissing!
