Hi

Anybody out there who has a girlfriend that smokes and you dont,acouple of months ago i asked my gf to stop smoking around me and she dumped me,now im going out with someone else and what do u know she smokes aswell,i wanna tell her to stop around me but i dont wanna get dumped,all her mates are moaning at me cus i wont kiss or even walk next to her.i dunno what to do really

its understandable if you dislike kissing ur gf when shes been smoking, but u have to ask urself, do you like her enuff to be with her still even if she doesnt stop? Is it such a big issue that it needs to be dealt with now?. I guess it all depends on how serious u r with this girl.

If I were in your position, i'd go crazy. I cannot stand smokers (my personal choice, so don't even try to knock it)

If you're like me, your gonna have to tell her to not do it around you. I'd have probably screened out smokers first, though

It's wierd, I used to think I could never go out with a smoker, the thought of tobacco breath etc was very off-putting...and then I met my boyfriend, and his smoking really doesn't bother me as much as I'd imagined it would - I have even been known to snog him right after a fag (although that happens more often when we're drunk!) Although I'd prefer it if he didn't smoke, I don't try and make him quit, as I think the will power probably has to come from within....

If you like her enough, you'll be able to put up with her 'vices', but if it really does bother you, maybe she will try and stop for you, or at least not do it while you're around, which seems a fair compromise.

Hmmm. Tricky.

If you ask her to stop then its a (unfair?)test of her love for you (as you know she smoked before you got togtheer)
If you leave it as it is then is a test of your love for her.

I pretty much rule out any girl who smokes personally.

is she a proper regular smoker or just a casual smoker? because if shes just smokes casually or socially then im sure if you ask her to stop she will.
i dont smoke anymore and my new boyfriend smokes casually and he doesn't smoke around me because he knows i don't like it.
if shes a regular smoker then it'll be alot more difficult for her to stop and if she refuses to stop you'll have to consider if you like her enough to stay with her.

I really do not like smokers. I remember getting off with this one guy who was a great kisser, but he'd just put a fag out so he tasted vile, which kinda put a dampener on the whole thing.

Use the whole "I'm worried about your health" thing like thefairmelissa suggested. If she doesn't fall for that one you'll have to shove a load of tic-tacs in her mouth and spray odious amounts of body spray over her before any form of bodily contact.

my partner smokes nearly all the time regular smoker i smoke sometimes so it doesnt really bother me but if i wasnt a smoker and he still was then i wouldnt mind him smokin i would respect his wishes because if you really love someone then you like them how they are you dont need them to change. <IMG SRC="rolleyes.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">

I was really anti-smoking when I grew up, all the rest of the family smoked but I hated it. Then I met my boyfriend and stupidly gave in to peer pressure! Finally though I have given up (Again) because I really hate it. Yhing is - my dad died of a heart attack and he was only 56. Smoking was to blame, but even after that I couldn't stop. Now I have stopped again I'm constantly worried about my boyfriends smoking!
