Firstly, with a few exceptions, drugs are relatively cheap. If two people went on a night out, one was drinking, and one was using drugs, you'd find that the one drinking would spend alot more money.
Secondly, how can you possibly know how much time we spend taking drugs? Some people use them daily, some weekly, some monthly, and some very rarely. I bet you wouldn't be so condescending to someone who went out drinking every weekend.
You say there's nothing wrong with pleasure seeking, then you go on to say 'seeking highs and pleasure for themselves'. Who would you rather we sought if for?
