Acutally, this is the real reason I have problems establishing a decent, long lasting, relationship with comitment. Because that could lead to marriage, and then almost certainly to kids. Then one day that dreaded question will come up! Well, that's my excuse anyway.
Mr_Wobble
Very good.
I was never really told about the birds and the bees, although my brother tried to explain them to me whilst we were on an outing with our parents.
I vaguely recall asking my dad 'where did I come from?' to which he replied 'the stork brought you.' That was about it.
The best of luck - you're gonna need it!
I couldn't stop crying, and I was in the corner, and she said to the clerk "Ill take that brown eyed girl!" LoL
I never believed her though. I dont know why...I always knew where babies came from...I dont ever believing that stuff..Or anything w/ Santa...I always knew it was my mom, but when i found out that it was her, I wasnt scarred or anythin...
My baby told me that he was soo mad at his parents when he found out santa wasnt real...lol
But I think about that often...I dont want to 'lie' and then have them find out and be mad, but I dont wanna be too graphic. u know?
Of course my mum will swear down i knew absolutely everything from the age 0!
Your right she doesent need to know yet, but she is asking me questions and at some point she will have to be told. She on a regular basis is asking me how does the baby get there. She knows that babies grow in Mams tummy but I think very soon she will want to know more.
Id rather tell her the truth rather than make up stories, id also her rather be educated by me not the older kids at school.
But im not looking forward to telling her the facts
Cheers for that, to be truthful I never even thought about going to the library.
Thanx
If she learns the truth in a simplified way then shes not going to believe all the stories that she WILL hear in the playground. I dont think 7 is too young at all. If shes asking questions then shes ready, You know your own child, and you know what sort of level of information she can handle. She needs her questions answered.
I WAS ABOUT 6 AND MY PARENTS TOLD ME.
Its better to tell children the truth
Rainbow you can tell her for me
thing!
I got told something like:
A Mummy and Daddy love each other lots and they decide to have a baby, so they do this special cuddle (but only grown ups can do it, so it's too complicated to explain to you darling) and then the baby grows in Mummy's tummy.
But I have a 9 year old brother and I don't think he's ever really been told properly, he just watches lots of TV and learns that way! Scariest moment of my life was when, after I missed an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and asked him what happened, he told me 'Xander and Faith had sex in that episode'.
He was only about 7 at the time. I'm still shocked.
The book idea is good too. I once saw a book called 'Mummy Laid an Egg!' which had me in stitches but it was SO graphic. It had these parents telling their kids all the classic stories about the stork, the cabbage patch and so on... then the kids came back and said 'no, that's not right' and proceeded to explain it all... including the different positions... with illustrations...

My boyfriend learnt the facts of life from that book! lol
They've always been honest with me about the biological side but like most people have said she also stressed the whole "mummy and daddy who each other very much" lines as well ... which I feel is as important as the biological so to raise a kid that's not only intelligent but also emotionally intelligent!
Having said that she didn't tell me about actual sexual intercourse at that age - not because she wouldn't but I guess being told about the women's side of things satisfied me at that stage.
But she can't have done anything too badly because we're now (I'm 17) really open about sex & relationships and stuff like that. So I'll I'd say is try to be open & honest, answering their questions but not overloading them with information that they don't need - as I say, I was satisfied at age 8 with just the women's info ... but then everyone's different
hope that's of some help
When I have kids Im going to be the type of Mum that my kids can talk to about sex and have a really open and honest relationship with. Just the total opposite of my own relationship with Mum really.
Not that my Mum wasnt approcable or anything, well she wasnt 100%
ok this vodka is effecting me now, im talking pish
But I remember my mum giving me information on periods etc when I was about 9 but because she's a doctor she did it so I didn't understand!! Hahaha! I later asked my sisters!
When I found out about blow jobs etc I was still in primary school! I used to go on a website called girland & eevryone was a lot older than me & used to write "stuff" on the problem pages Hahaha! I do remember my best friend telling me how gay men had sex though when I was about 11! She had a special book from her mum telling her everything * I was a deprived child*
We passed it on to my sister when she aked and then to my parents God Child when she asked.
I will try and find the books name and details A.S.A.P!!
Too me i think that that is the best way to do it!!
Good Luck~!!:p
Sub consciously you are setting her up to be the next teenage pregnancy. "Oh when loves involved a baby is created, but when he just sticks it in me i'm safe"
Even at the age of 8 me and big titty mary jane were having it on the see saw. Those were the days of my life!
But also the programmes they showed in school were broadcasted on BBC2 - open university style in the middle of the day from what I remember and I was home sick that day!!!
The background music to the programme was a song I think called "Perfect day .." .. Anyway now everytime I hear that song I think of the day i learn't about the B&B's
I think all my parents did was sign the slip that allowed us to be taught at school about the B&B's!!
Well lets update, we had our little chat I didnt go into too much detail just the basics and she was happy with that.
She even asked if she can have a little Brother or Sister..........like NO WAY !!!!!!!
