So says the Indian PM

Story

I love the smell of fallout in the morning...

edited to add: Jack Straw (twat) is advising UK citizens to leave Pakistan because of potential terrorist threat...

He fails to mention that a nuke may be dropped fairly soon - d'oh.

Come death come...

I wonder what will happen here when those two go to war again....How many Pakistanis and Indians do we have in this country?

Any war over there will most definately impact on us here.

India and Pakisatn have fought several wars in the past and I have never heard of any major disturbance so I don't think the effect on Britain would be more then negligible.....

The last India-Pakistan war was in 1971...More people from India/Pakistan have emigrated here in the last 30 years than in the previous 2000 years. There are hugely more people from that region living in the UK now than there were in '71.

Spose, but most 'Asians' now were born in Britain so I don't think they will empaphise with this conflict very much...

I was annoyed to read that apparently one of the reasons this conflict has escelated so much is due to the apathy of us in the West. Why is that they are adults why do they need us to look afetr them, stupid idiots

You mean like the way British muslims havent empathised much with Afghanistan or Palestine?

Many, many Brits who came from over there still have family there.

War is almost certain now so I guess we shall see.

Didnt you know? Everything can be blamed on the west. Either we provoked it or we didnt get involved and caused it that way.

Lets send them all 'back to where they came from' then - that'll solve the problem of what 'the Asians' will do!

better still lets drop a nuclear bomb on Kashmir, may as well do it before they do eh!

Thats what I thought at first too but theres nothing even remotely like that in this thread. No racism, nobody has complained about immigrants, nobody has suggested doing anything to anyone.

I suspect Baldy that byny objects to our talk of how those of Asian descent in Britain will react, though I am unclear how this could be represented as rascism....

YEAH - I WAS being sarcastic!

    Sorry Guys!

I really am quite scared about the prospect of a war over Kashmir that might involve nuclear weaponry of some kind.

Lets hope it all gets sorted out peacefully and we DONT see the same kind of racism toward British asians (Be they pakistani or Indian) as we do toward Afghanistanis etc.

Thats not what we were talking about....Its the possible trouble between the two communities that is worrying. Tensions are already high in my area between the Sikhs and Muslims.

On the bigger picture, does Pakistan genuinely believe it has a chance?
India has an army that is twice the size, an airforce which is 3 times the size and a navy that is twice the size.
The indian armed forces use their own equipment as well as an array of British and American jets and tanks, with the capacity to build more.
Pakistan relies on arms imports and has little capacity to create more, with the bulk of its armed forces being made up of ex soviet equipment.
India has approx 90 nuclear warheads. Pakistan only 20. India has the backing of Russia and the other former soviet states, who will more than likely "lend a hand" if asked, given Putin's intense dislike of all things Muslim. America is supposed to be more in favour of Pakistan, however to the Yanks Pakistan is simply a means to an end, so I can't really forsee and American military assistance.
The only wildcard is the British government. Both Pakistan and India are in the commonwealth, and Britain has a duty to aid commonwealth countries. So who will we help? British troops in the area could tilt the balance for whoever they are fighting for.

I guess it's something that we'll have to wait and see, but my money's on India.

As for the domestic situation, I think the Muslim population will work themselves into more of a frenzy about it than the Sikhs and Hindus. We saw what happened when we attacked Afghanistan and Iraq.

That's why Pakistan has said they don't rule out using nuclear weapons first, if fighting a bigger army. They're basically saying "fight us and we'll nuke your major cities. 30,000,000 dead- can you afford it?"

With a population exceeding 1.2 billion, 30 million is short change to them. I'm not saying they will like the losses, and if that happens the shit will hit the fan, however the country is able to take such a huge death toll.
pakistan isn't. If Pakistan nukes India, India will respond, and India has roughly 3 times more nuclear warheads and less land to destroy with them.

Plus because of the size of India and the relative backwardness of the delivery systems I believe most of India is out of range of Pakistani missiles whilst practically all of Pakistan is within Indian range.......

I really can't see what Mussahraf hopes to gain, he is treading a thin line and as far as I can see he loses every way so surely it is best to step down, lose some pride but avoid a catastrophe......

Or is he just an idiot.....

    Unfortunately its not that simple..

India has given Pakistan a 2 month ultimatum to end the terrorism RE Kashmir. If Pakistan dont do this then India will declare war.

Pakistan cannot win a conventional war against India. They are hoping to avoid war by reminding India they have nukes, the missile tests today.

If Pakistan sees an imminant conventional attack by India then I dont doubt they will use nukes. If they think their country is in danger, they will use them.

Well then they are going to have to stop their activities in Kashmir then, still seems simple to me......

Lose some pride and the entire region of Kashmir. Which for those history buffs amongst us, was originally plaaned as part of Pakisatn anyway but the ruling warlord at the time of independence thought that he'd get more from India...Kashmir is predominantly Muslim, which is why India has so much touble, esp when you consider India's historic intolerance towards Muslims...

Its so simple to talk about this issue as being one of pride when you aren't involved. Would you be happy to give up a huge swathe of England at the behest of a larger neighbour?

    The "reasoning" of the slave...

A slave would rather submit than fight.

A free man will fight to his death (and yours, and EVERYONE else's) rather than submit.

If you truly believe that you are "free", then you are simply fooling yourself, OR... you have not familiarity with the reality of freedom.

The reason why US forces NEVER lost an engagement of platoon size or larger in Vietnam? Freemen fighting against slaves. Different mindset. That victory was given away by the cowards in political power. The parasites...

Would you fight to your death rather than submit? The defining question as to whether you are TRULY a free man. Me thinks that you are more the parasite, who prospers by the efforts of others, yet is unwilling to take the stand himself.

Bring whatever prevarication you will in rejoinder, but your quoted words reveal the TRUTH!

but where does it stop? When do you stand up to the bullies and say no.

They agree to give up claim to Kashmir, then India wants the coastal flats of southern Pakistan, they agree to that to avoid nuclear war. Then India wants all of Pakistan, ah well if it means avoiding nuclear war. You want to put all of us in chains? yes of course, if it means avoiding nuclear war.

    Where does it stop Toadborg?

    Were you bullied at school?

I was talking about a situation where there were no alternatives (which there are in this case and every other I can think of).

Nuclear war doesn't even count as a fight, it is simply two nations wiping out eachother, nobody gains anything from such a conflict....

In what way a soldier is a free-man I don't know, you say yourself you do what you are told or you are punished, you also admit that you did things that you disagreed with, why would a free-man do that?

Baldy stooping to personal questions, genius

As I said then this was only when there is only that option because nuclear war benefits no-one.....

I think it will all end up with political bargaining, either the EU the US or even China need to step in and threaten them both, if they are going to act like children then they ae going to need some outside assistance it would appear......

Whats with the rolly eyes? Being bullied is a good analogy for this situation. You dont let bullies get away with it or they just keep coming back for more.

Threats from the EU, US or China? Im sure they are so scared. India with a population almost equal to China and with nuclear capability.

Well what do you suggest then???????

If you want to use a crap metaphor then would you really stand up to the bully if you knew you would both die as the result of it?
