Has anyone esle seen the new proposed EU flag? It has vertical stripes in the colours of each country's individula flags, and ends up looking like a coloured barcode. Such a mess!

    And this is important, why?

Edited to say that ..... hmmm ... I think that was a genuine question I just asked.

I would think that a ratty looking rag in a muddy/coffee color with blobs of black on it would about sum up the expectation for the EU but then I'm probably not the right person to design a flag for folks over there.

For me, I'll just go with the jolly roger or the stars and bars!

"ratty looking rag in a muddy coffee color"

I've never particularly liked the current EU flag, but this new effort sums up the EU really: a mish mash of different countries all with their own agendae, struggling to work togther and look good: and failing.

Why was it designed by an architect?

What a pile of shite. My three year old could have done better.

Personally, in light of recent political advances I'd have though a white circle on a red background would be nice. Perhaps with a black motif...a little bit like an "x" maybe...

Eeeeash, what a piece of shit. You can tell it's designed by a Dutchman, very laid back and colourful.

Anyways, it wont be adopted. What's wrong with the current one anyway? It's rather tasteful, it's easy to draw and you just keep adding stars with each new member-state.

Would they keep on adding to it as the Union expands?!

Also, think of the potential printing costs: at present the flag looks OK in black and white photocopies (for internal documents, etc) but that proposal wouldn't, so everything would have to be colour-copied and printed. Remember that one of this was exactly one of the reasons behind the BBC's logo change a couple years ago: the bars under BBC (in Red, Green and Blue) were causing everything to be done in colour.
