Thank God. Why should they die for Saddam not to mention more Kurd and American lives will be saved by this.
Further north in Mosul, the Iraqi Army 5th Corps commander and the governor-general were expected to surrender to the U.S. Special Operations Joint Task Force, military sources told CNN Thursday.
Mosul was one of the coalition's prime targets for the bombing campaign
The Iraqi 5th Corps is reportedly made up of three infantry divisions and one mechanized division, about 40,000 troops, and was based in Erbil during the first Gulf War.
In 1998, the Iraqi National Congress said the corps was based at Al Salammiyah Camp at Mosul.
