Prince Harry's drug habit

It's been revealed that Prince Harry, who is now 18 years old, has been sent to a drug rehabilitation centre in south east London after apprently admitting to smoking cannabis and drinking alcohol.
So, firstly, I am wondering whether this information should have been made public or whether it is a private matter between Harry and his family. Is this revelation going to alter the public perception of drug use, or does it simply highlight the widespread use of drugs, and in particular cannabis?
Secondly, do you think this admission is convenient for a Royal family that is desperate to be seen as relevant in today's society?

I drink and ive taken drugs in the past, should I go to a rehabilitation clinic? Seems like a bit of an overreaction to me.
Your questions...Yes it should have been a private matter but privacy doesnt exist with todays media. Its hardly a revalation. It wouldnt surprise me if all the royals were drug fiends..I believe Victoria was quite famous for her opium use..Drugs have been in the family for a long time. How many boys at Eton do you think dont smoke cannabis? Spoilt little rich kids are always the first to try it.
As for it being convenient...No I dont believe they planned this. The Royals still have very old fashioned attitudes and even today wouldnt want to be associated with drugs if they could help it.
Whether it will do him any good is another matter. He is surrounded, as you point out Baldy, by spoilt little rich kids who almost certainly smoke this stuff regularly. That is the reason I ask the second question, because recreational drugs, such as cannabis, are rarely if ever addictive and so he is only going to stop if he actually wants to, and not because his dad has sent him away for being naughty or because there is pressure from the popular press.
The tabloids are of course jumping all over this and blowing it out of all proportion, which can't possibly be doing Harry any good. I don't believe it's a PR stunt as such, but you have to question the motives of St. James' Palace for releasing this information at this time.
Drugs Rehab, sounds like either hes been sent to The Priory for a weeks R&R, or hes taking something slightly stronger than dope. Either way, how many 18 year old boys HAVENT smoked pot and got totally mullered? I know I have.
The S*n will have a field-day mind
As you rightly say Kermit, there are few underage teenagers who haven't had some experience of at least alcohol.
And yes, I have just heard the Royal editor from the News of the World saying on the radio how important this is. Expect big coverage in today's edition.
Quite frankly, who cares if an 18-year-old boy has smoked pot? Hes not exactly a significant royal...hes only famous cos of his hair-brained tart of a mother. But at least no-one can say the Royals are boring
And just to clarify, he wasn't sent to the clinic for any specific treatment, rather so he could see the effects drugs have had on people's lives. And depending on which paper you read, Harry is either 17 or 18!
You never know, Harry and Ewan Blair could become bosom buddies after the public announcements of their respective experiences of excess alcohol. Tony could give Charles parenting tips....what a thought!
What boring lives they must lead...canabas indeed...and subjects discussing their 'betters' well, you just never know!

I find it hilarious that the papers and TV news are outraged at this 'revelation' but every member of the public ive spoken to doesnt really care. Hes a teenager, its what teenagers do. No big deal.
Couldn't help the tongue in cheek comment about 'betters' and such...imagine what this sort of thing would have been like before radio and tv!

(His dad took him to see a drugs rehab in Peckham to talk to junkies, he was not admited.)
Become what?
Erm, they popped out of their mummy's tummy and then they grew up and became King (or Queen) of England.
Of course, the fact that their daddy won a war or something is beside the point. Providing, of course, you know what your point is.
I thought drug rehab was a lil' drastic, but if it was jus to hear the stories, then it sounds more like the parents trying to show him some sense.
Interesting how the story completely overshadowed that of the brutal murder in a packed london tube station.
I must of got the wrong impression from what I have seen.
If I could reiterate what has already been said HE WASN'T ADMITTED, he only went to talk to some junkies to be shown what drugs do to people.
I found the whole story quite amusing. A teenager boozing and smoking hash, what's new?
