I would nationalise the RNLI and merge it with HM Coastguard, I would increase spending on Customs & Excise, I would stop downsizing of the armed forces and I would get a new royal yacht (a sailing ship to save fuel costs and be nice to the environment).
I would cut fuel duty to the European average, I would rationalise the regulatory system for the railways and renationalise the railway infrastructure but NOT the train operating companies.
To pay for this I would put a penny on the highest rate of income tax.

I'd put out a contract on that bigot- you know the one I mean- the one who is in the royal family. Even last year, he made a racist comment going round a factory he saw a dodgily-wired switchbox and said "That looks as though it was made by an Indian."

Thank heaven Charles is a bit more sensitive. Incidentally I think he will make a great king, as he seems to be a bit more in touch with the people on issues like GM, the Dome etc.

How ironic that "the best service" is provided by a charity. I just thought it would be better off if it were properly funded like the police, fire brigade and ambulance service.

I think I'm right in saying the RNLI is the richest charity in the country. Certainly relative to the number of people it helps. So it's hardly a 'charity' in the usual sense of the word. If it were somehow nationlised, its funding would almost certainly be cut.
