Scam??

Not sure how true this is but just got sent it.

I have been informed of the following scam

It has been reported that if you receive a telephone call from an individual who identifies himself/herself as being an AT & T Service Technician who is conducting a test on that line, or if anyone else asks you to do the following - DON'T.

They will state that to complete the test the Recipient should dial nine, zero and press the hash key (90#) and then hang up. This will give them full access to your telephone line, which allows them to place long distance, international or chat-line calls. These are then billed to your account.

This information has been verified by British Telecom who have informed the Police, so do not press 90# for anyone.

    Thats an OLD phreaking trick.

Back in the days of alalouge PBX's you could send the 9 tone down the line and get it to transfer the call yourself....

Back in the good old days.....
