What are them dots?

I just wondered what them dots on the envolopes mean in the topic section, cuz everytime I have posted, Ive noticed these there, but never really noticed them on other peoples posts. Its probably something really simple, but im just too thick to know what.

Im quite embarressed asking actually so dont laugh!!!! :blush:
