An unholy alliance. A bigger war than we think?

This article from the NY Daily News on line if true is really scary. It talks about how even though Al Qaeda is Sunni Muslim, and Hezbollah is Shiite, they cooperated on the attack in Kenya. And how this is a new alliance. If this is true, no wonder the leaders of the West don't care that supporting a war could be the end of their careers. There's no choice.

again be very sceptical of the spin you are being fed. I doubt very highly if Hezbollah has anything to do with Al Qaeda. Their fight is purely with Israel and they have no cause to be sending people to Kenya to shoot at planes, they can do that right where they are.

You know where Hezbollah does most of its fund raising?

America. Under the guise of helping needy children.

interesting, so perhaps the international community should accuse the Bush administration of aiding and harboring terrorists as well, eh? ;)

The CIA is claiming that's what set off the big scare, when they discovered Hezbollah, Shiites, working with Al Qaeda, Sunni, to try to bring down the Israeli airliner in Kenya.

No need for violence or force. We'd simply drop a few thousand bags of pretzels over the White House... and wait.

Just a quick historical note to add here -

Do you know where the IRA got (and to a large extent continues to get) the majority of the funds to run its terror campaigns in Northern Ireland?

America. Under the guise of supporting Irish terrorists to bomb and kill innocent civilians. and still people gave money to them.

But that was different? wasn't it?? Supporting terrorism was alright then, because it wasn't on Americas doorstep

Actually, the IRA got and still gets the majority of its funds from criminal activities. That is according to Scotland Yard. Not a lot of funds are raised in the US to bomb people. Lots were raised to assist in the cause of reuniting Ireland. Just because the idiots who give to those causes don't bother to think about what it means to support the cause doesn't mean that the US government is supporting the IRA. Those funds weren't gov't funds.

No, you're right. The IRA does continue to procure the majority of its funds from illegal racketeering, smuggling, drug-dealing etc. but you also cannot ignore the substancial aid given to the IRA by Noraid.

I wasn't suggesting the U.S government contributed to this. God knows, if it hadn't been for the clinton administration, there probably wouldn't have been the Good Friday Agreement.

Was just making the point that you shouldn't be too surprised to see terrorists attempting to secure funds from inside America. It has happened before, only difference now is that the terrorists have to hide what they are collecting for.

You cannot say that people who gave to Noraid had no idea where the money was going to... these people willingly gave money to terrorists.
