Ok, its boxing day, and where i live this is the night over xmas to partey!! (except new year!!) So we are all off down town, dressed up as school girls, anyone else going anywhewre??

I found this, though:
26 December was traditionally known as St Stephen's Day, but is more commonly known as Boxing Day. This expression came about because money was collected in alms-boxes placed in churches during the festive season. This money was then distributed during to the poor and needy after Christmas.
i always thought it had something to do with the servants of rich families ages ago but i probably made that up in my head...
i do know, however, that it's the Anglicised term for st. stephen's day and some sections of society in ireland refuse to call it boxing day
