i worry about aids

i don't know why but i get really worried about having aids. i've had unprotected sex with 4 blokes, mainly due to alcohol, and often think about how i could have it. i should probably just get tested but would rather not know if i do hav it, people say by not having a test your just being selfish coz you're putting other people at risk by not knowing. i don't even know if the chances of getting it are high but aren't more people catching it nowadays?

The best thing you can do is go and get tested. Knowing one way or the other is infinitely better than constantly worrying and having it niggle away at you. If (and its probable) you haven't got it, then your mind will be put at rest and you can get on with your life. In the unlikely event that you have, then at least then you'll be able to look at treatment and begin to comes to terms with it.

If you have got it, not knowing about it won't make it go away. Find out for sure.

Also, use a condom next time!

When I went to the GUM clinic, they asked me several questions to see whether I was in a high risk group for HIV or AIDS. These are: have you had unprotected sex? Especially with many partners, bisexual men, drug users (heroin), partners from certain countries (I think African countries especially but I may be wrong).

Please get tested - as Vox said, it will only niggle away at you for ages, and its the only way you will know for certain. Have you got a friend who could go with you or have you tried to speak to someone i.e a councillor about your worries?

    hth, good luck!
