safe period ?

hei
i was just wondering is that whole thing about a 'safe period' where a girl can have unprotected sex but not get pregenat coz there is no egg at certin times of the month, well is that true ?
i'm worried coz a friend of mine did have unprotected sex but says she's ok coz she worked out she was 'safe' but i'm not sure how true that theroy is....
she said he didn't cum either but as her bf is a bit of a dick i don't know how true that is either.
well right anyway all i want to know is what do you think the chances of her being pregnant are ?

ok i dont mean this 2 sound bad but......r u sure this is "A FRIEND" we r talking about???? it is not true about there being a "safe period" as a girl can get pregnant at ne time of the monthm but there are certain times when it is less likely.

i think this "girl" should wait and see if her period comes cos there aint much u can do b4 then unless she gets the morning after pill.

if its 72 hrs after intercourse she can get the morning after pill, but its 75% ish effective in the first 24 hrs and only 50% after that. up to 5 days after intercourse you can have an IUD fitted by a doctor which can be painful unless you have already given birth.

you should never rely on a safe time, as there isnt one. although tehre are safER times. like just after a girls period shes not likely to get pregnant coz the lining of the womb has just gone, and usually the egg goes with it. its still possible though. my friend had an "accident", althoguh not sex, at this time of the month and she didnt want to take the morning after pill as it makes her sick and there was the 6th form party the day after, and it would have been coming up to 72 hrs (good to see she has her priorioties straight! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/rolleyes.gif"&gt; )

ovulation typically happens on the 14th day of the month, with the 1st day being the start of her period. but it can happen before or after that and the egg doesnt just die, it hangs around a bit. and the same with sperm, they can last about 5 days sometimes, so all of these dates can overlap. so its best not to risk it really.

it's just a shame that what i was worried about is still a problem....
well as it's too late for the morning after pill and i think it's gone 5 days so too late for the other method i guess it's just the fingers crossed method...although she seamed very sure that she was in her"safe(r)"
