To reiterate, I simply reckon that the government must help people to help themselves. It's not the role of the state to subsidise idolness. :)

What's stopping your boyfriend from taking evening classes to gain more qualifications? Wouldn't his job prospects improve then :)

It's idleness. Perhaps you should consider taking up those evening classes that you're advocating?

No thanks. A degree in Politics, which I hope to pursue within the next month or so, is a better option. :);)
    And house prices!

Supply and demand (to a good extent) regulate the level of house prices, in addition to alterations in monetary policy by the Bank of England.

Boy are you going to have you eyes opened then. It will certainly change your simplistic view of the world.

    Assuming you are accepted.

My 'world view' is not simplistic.

It's only leftists who get offended by my views. If that is you then I'm not sorry for speaking my mind. :)

    Me, lefty? har-de-har-har

Your views don't offend me, I just think that you haven't thought them through, that you think of a soundbyte solution without substance and you prove that by being unable to back up most of what you say...

How do you know I have not 'thought my views through'?

In this thread, the only censures I have received have amounted to 'You don't care about the poor!' or 'You have no heart'. Is that the best people can do? How about asking as to what alternatives I have to excessive welfare?

Similarly, in the minimum wage thread, identical 'insults' (yeah really insulting  :)) were thrown at me!

I'd be happy to discuss politics with someone who is more versed in the study. :)

Well your counter-arguments certainly lack credibility. :D

    More socialist garbage then.

   ;)

By you lack of response to any real question.

    You just ignore it.

    Like you have Vox's above.

Thus pointing out that you did not appear to have considered anything but you own personal circumstances. Which apparently change like the wind, having noted that you are an unemlpoyed, world travelling, full-time working student of politics.

I think we did ask what your suggestions were, if the Govt wasn't going to help...

Arrogant little shit. Do you think we aren't worthy of you then?

Unless you mean more versed than you, in which case that is all of us...

I don't believe anybody is beneath me.

I think we did ask what your suggestions were, if the Govt wasn't going to help...

When did I state that the government wasn't going to aid people? I simply feel that the emphasis of welfare must change.
You say that you have been unemployed for two years, yet refuse to clarify whether or not you drew unemployment benefit or not.

I have drawn JSA. And? The doing so is applicable to my principles. How can a person survive financially without a job? Since JSA enables a person to help themselves by finding work, it cannot be contrary to my statements. :)

I suppose Man of Work is content now (well he wanted me to answer Vox's questions).

Care to prove that? I don't generally adhere to falsehoods. :D

Yes, you've already said that, but as I pointed out, you haven't said to what

Look at the first post here. You said that rather than welfare people should "fend for themselves"...

Which is why we suggest that this makes you a hypocrite.

Other than those you spout... :p
