When do Uni's break up for Xmas normally?

When do uni's finish for xmas? I'm asking because I'm planning a trip to America before xmas and I wondered if uni's finished around early December? Any info would be most welcome.

    Well, I go to Bristol Uni and we run about a week behind most Uni's and we usually break up about a week before xmas day. We then have a month break from study, but the bastards make us take exams just before we get back, and on a Saturday no less :(.

    Ours always used to finish the week before Christmas, and most of my mates were the same. So if Christmas fell on a saturday you would have a whole week off before but if it fell on a monday you would just have a weekend.


    Mind you nothing really happened in the last week. Except if you had exams.

    Normally there was some time in January though before you go back. I should check the holiday timetable.
