Dry mouth

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
So, for the past few days I've had a really, really dry mouth. No matter what, or even how much I drink I can't ''hydrate'' my mouth. Any ideas? It's seriously annoying, and running to the loo every 30 mins cos you've drunk so much with no outcome is like effooooooooooooort.

Help?!D:

Have you got any other unusual symptoms? Are you feeling ill at all? If so, it might be a good idea to get checked out by your doctor?

I've felt I'll since Sunday, and haven't eaten since then either, although I've had a little something now. Might phone NHS Direct! Thank you:)

Good idea, it could be the first signal that your immune system is fighting something.
    Take care :)

Not eating could also explain why you have a dry mouth, moisturising it may be useful. Or the amount of fluid you drink...

Apparently it could be cos of the purging too. Spoke to the hospital people as Becki sent me for various other reasons too. But been eating a lot of yoghurt and drinking more water! Thankies guys!

i've heard someone tell me before that it could be a sign of being diabetic

the girl that told me is, and that was 1 of the things that led her to visit the doctors

    Doubt I'd be diabetic.
And nope, I hate drinking water it tastes of sewage, but I've been holding my nose and trying to drink more of it.

Making your own flavoured water is much better for you than the ones you buy in the shops too which usually contain loads of sugar.

Here's a Jamie Olive recipe.. but basically just chuck in some fresh fruit and ice and some mint leaves!

I have dry mouth a lot, but mines from drug use and a side effect of my medication I think.

Sometimes I find chewing gum helps, it makes you produce saliva :)
