Mental Health Support: Online Volunteers needed!

Hey there

Are you aged 16-25?
Do you live in London?
(This is a project funded in the London area only however if you're really interested in the workshop do let me know as there will be space for some extras!)
Have you accessed support for a mental health issue?
Would you like to help other young people in the early stages of reaching out for help?

If yes then read on...

We're holding an online workshop during the week of Monday February 18th exploring the idea of support networks.

This is a one off opportunity and will involve completing two online activities in your own time throughout that week. Each one will take about an hour.

What is it about?
We'll be talking about support networks and how to make the most out of them. We'll ask you to reflect on your own support network and share how it's helped you and how you built it up, as well as what was difficult along the way.

You'll also have the chance to write your own personal story and have it published on TheSite.org.

Our aim is to unpick those very first steps to getting support - before going to a doctor, a counsellor or another health professional. So this might include the support you get from friends, family or through a hobby that you enjoy.

The discussions will feed into the creation of new resources here on TheSite.

What are we looking for?
We're looking for people who have had first hand experience of accessing mental health support and are open and willing to share those experiences with others.

You'll need to feel comfortable in reflecting on your own journey and writing about it.

We're also looking for a commitment to complete the workshop activities by the end of the week.

Rest assured all discussions will take place in a private online space.

How will you benefit?
You will develop your ability to reflect and comment on your own experiences and use them to help others.

Your input will provide valuable insight to improve TheSite.org's services and resources we provide for 16-25 year olds.

Volunteers will also benefit from discussing their experiences with other young people, communicating in a safe online space and developing their writing skills.

Those that go on to write a personal story will have it published on TheSite.org.

How do I apply?
If you're keen then you'll need to submit your details via do-it.org via this link: http://www.do-it.org.uk/search/opportunities/1919020/Mental%20Health%20Support%20-%20Online%20Workshop%20Volunteer
