I need to do a ten minute presentation/speech type thing for college. I don't have a clue what to do it on. I can't think of anything I'm interested in or would want to talk about. Help me! Nobody else in the class has done one yet so I don't have anything to go by.

I'm really nervous about it. I've started to hate talking in public.

Sorry if I am mixing you up with somebody else, but you are doing au pair work aren't you? It sounds like you have had an interesting experience there and I am sure everyone else would agree. You could then bulk out the presentation with lots of photographs so there wouldn't be so much attention on you.
If not that, maybe an extension of topic you have studied in class? Most wouldn't have done the same stuff as you. Maybe something political or controversial so it gets good Q&A if you are worried for how long you can talk for.
