Flatmates and going out

How can I tell my flatmates I dont want to go out clubbing all the time without seeming unsociable?! I, for a few reasons, dont enjoy it that much. I dont have the money to go out for a start. Secondly I'm not a fan of alcohol after having an abusive partner when he was drunk. I get quite panicked by the confinement of a club and end up usually having a miserable night. I'm away into second year at uni and I spent all of last year with my current flatmates so they do know me a little. I just dont want to come across as being unsociable or strange. Is it bad I'd rather spend my day in the gym or swimming and have quiet nights in? :(

If you dont want to go somewhere with them, then you dont have to. I dont like clubbing, only go rarely, and feel bad when i turn one of my friends down but i know im not going to enjoy myself.

Next time you say no, suggest an alternative of something else you could do rather than seeming negative all the time. At uni none of our group were into clubbing so we had nights at the pub or just getting some drinks in and watching a film or two. Much more enjoyable in my opinion, more comfortable and you can chat.
