Hi everyone,
I have a exciting opportunity to offer.
Elevation Networks is a youth employment charity that supports young people to become more employable in the job market.
We are working with the National Youth Agency to deliver this year's National Citizen Service (NCS) autumn pilots in 2012 and are looking for people who are 16 - 17, who live, study or work in Lambeth, Enfield, or Waltham Forest or. Those who are under 25 years old with a disability, or learning difficulties from the boroughts are also welcome.
The NCS is the Government’s flagship programme for young people, which aims to promote a more cohesive, responsible and engaged society by bringing young people from different backgrounds together to make a difference in their communities.
It is a voluntary programme which focuses on their personal and social development. It includes challenging activities, from away from home residential experiences to a self-designed social action project.
The programme is free and pupils have a chance to plan and run a social action project in their community. Past projects have included:
- Painting a community centre.
- holding a pampering day for young carers.
- Teaching the elderly how to play games on the Nintendo Wii.
It is a great opportunity for those with disabilities to put this experience on their CV and UCAS applications, and a chance to experience volunteering for the first time. The commitment from the participants is outside the school time, so the focus is on committing time on the weekends and evenings.
Please advise how we can promote this opportunity, to make this ‘once in a life time experience’ accessible to as many young people in Lambeth.
