Kim Jong-Il snuffs it

First it was Osama, then Lord Voldemort and Gaddafi; it was a shock when I woke this morning to check my Blackberry and discover that Kim Jong-Il had snuffed it. It almost felt like the entire planet was playing a cruel game of dictator bingo.

The son may take over from the father, but I doubt we have enough understanding of the internal workings of such a secretive nation for us to conclusively be able to say that there wont be some form of behind the scenes power struggle.

Gossip had it that many of the reins had already been handed over. But as with Libya, Egypt etc remember that nature abhors a vacuum...

Does anyone else see the trend of deflating exaltations?

The Great Leader > The Dear Leader > The Great Successor.

What's next? The Adequate Tyrant? The Mediocre Despot?

I kinda see why - his Dad starts one of the biggest wars post 1945 and gets enshrined as dictator for life (or Eternal President). The boyo manages to get a decent part in Team America: World Police - there's a definite downhill slant
