On the other hand, you dont necessarily need a formal diagnosis to start learning to live with it. You can find tips on this website http://www.dyspraxiafoundation.org.uk/
My girlfriend was told the same (she's 32 an wanted to know before applying to uni) - apparently they expect educational institutions to deal with it.
Since you do have a college place for September, you can call your college up and let them know you'll want to be assessed and they should accommodate it.
You need a referal to an occupational therapist for proper assessments to assess
your hand/eye co-ordination and to find out if you have problems with your fine and gross motor skills. Only then can a proper diagnosis be given.
I am unfortunate to have quite severe dyspraxia and it affects my everyday life alot.
However I have been given some aids to help me with certain tasks. Such as a shower chair, sock aid and grabber.
I am not allowed to drive because of how poor my hand/eye co ordination is but many sufferers of dyspraxia can and do learn to drive (usually automatic)
Please go back to see your doctor and demand that you want a referal to an occupational therapist. Failing that contact your local health boards to raise a complaint.
If you are at school or college/uni they may have access to an occupational therapist.
