this may be a really daft question but, bear with me...

if i buy an album off itunes, can i only put it onto my ipod or will i be able to burn it onto a cd using my PC too? :)

    You can, but its covered in DRM. If you buy it in iTunes, re-encode the files to delete the DRM (Super Converter). So you can use them how many times you want. Don't leave them in the default iTunes location either.

    so its not as simple as just buying it then burning it...whats DRM? id have no idea how to re encode files.

    DRM is Digital Rights Management. Basically means Apple says how you can use those files. Thing is, Apple has said for a long time their store is DRM free, but... you don't have to remove DRM if you don't feel the need. You can just burn a CD. This page says you can burn the CD and recopy the disk into iTunes to remove DRM.
