    Ice scraper and de-icer. And something to wipe the inside of the window. Not one of those shit bean bags, go for the rubber window-cleaner thingies.

    If you dont have a screen heatery device get a thing thats a sponge wrapped in leather, genius for getting condensation off the inside. De-icer is also a must.

    If you wanna be pedantic you can go for took kit, wheel changing stuff, bottle of water etc etc but i dont have any of that stuff

    Waterproof jacket
    Torch
    Map
    Something warm

    Windscreen water concentrate, engine oil, window de-icer, brake fluid, warm jacket, torch and a map book (even if you always use a sat nav!)

    Edit: Car kit for your mobile phone, charger and hands free loudspeaker/earphone.

    Another edit: Sunglasses for when the sun is low in the sky.

    Fluorescent jacket (law in Europe now so why not)

    road is pretty estentail as well if its a road car, if its 4x4 you can go anywhere
