Snap ! I did a thread a while ago about things you can't make and one of the things i'm crap at is soup, but i made some potato and leek soup bonfire night and it was rather good.

For bought soup, i'd say Baxter's Meditteranean tomato soup or knorr herb soup, which they dont make anymore :(

Potato and leek soup is the easiest soup on earth to make! if you wanna mix it up, add some lavender. I kid you not.

This carrot and corriander seems popular, somebody post a good tried and true recipe! I don't trust random internet recipes, some really suck.

Unless it is one of those blend everything like you just broke your jaw and everything has to fit through a straw soups, then don't bother :p

I haven't come across one that wasn't disappointingly bland. It always sounds so nice though.

We had ham last night, to cook the ham I boiled it for a bit with carrots and bay and onion and lemon and such, then roasted it. The leftover water made the most AMAZING base for a soup, I put a bit of lemongrass in and blended a few potatoes, shredded a bit of the ham... sweet, salty, hammy gorgeousness

The stuff we make a home. We boil a gammon joint in water till it's cooked (make sure you rinse it first). We soak lentils or split peas in warm water overnight. Drain the peas, add them to the water that's had the gammon in. Add some leek and grated carrots. Boil it all up till it's ready to serve.
We also made small dumplings and add it to the soup while it's boiling.
We usually add some ripped up gammon to the soup too.
