Sarah's Law rolled out on paedophiles

I predict a Tory fuck up in the making.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/sarahs-law-on-paedophiles-rolled-out-2040992.html

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this law isn't going to work. If the police did their job and kept a close eye on dangerous offenders, or better still, didn't let them out, then we wouldn't be discussing this.

As it happens the law currently allows parents and guardians the right to ask for a background check via the police for anyone that has unsupervised access to children. The problem with this law is that it prevents the minority of paedophiles who like Roy Whiting are opportunistic in their victim selection. It does nothing to prevent children from being abused at the hands of childcare proffesionals who, although they have CRB checks, still doesn't prevent them from abusing children; such as that repulsive woman who ran a nursery in Plymouth.

Of course that's not to say the CRB checks themselves aren't perfect, but just exactly how is making another layer of bureaucracy going to help???

No laws will help. CRB themselves don't really help anything either.

A few months ago - back in the days where the Tories were in opposition - they were talking about getting rid of bureaucracy, slashing away at red tape, that sort of thing.

A few months later, and they're now creating a brand new layer of bureaucracy which isn't even needed.

You can't trust a word this lot say. They've managed to do in about three months what New Labour took a few years to do - get everyone to think they're liars. What a fucking achievement.

Remember though, the Tories/LibDems have scrapped that big paedo database that Labour attempted to start up last year, plus that ID card scheme.

They certainly have. And we won't, of course, see the likes of this again. Unless the EU tells them to do it, in which case they'll roll over and tell us to bend over and take it. Again.

These are levels of shamelessness that not even Gordon Brown could have achieved.

CRB checks only work if someone has already been convicted of such a crime, plus Sarah's Law wouldn't have helped in the case it's named after.

Pointless exercise TBH, just to appease the media and vigilantees. IMHO.

Watched a bit of the news last night, when talking about this law they mentioned vigilante attacks as if it was a serious question!

Cut to footage of some muppet carrying a banner with "PEADOFILES OUT!!!"

    Jesus fucking wept.
