Hey all,

Well i've recently recieved some inheritance and im thinking about doing some travelling with it, as i havent travelled enough plus ive just graduated and feel its a good time to do it.

Buuuut there are so many options and places to go and see i dont have a clue where to go! I'm thinking about going around America but then the idea of inter-railing around Europe also interests me.

Just after some ideas really, throw some travelling ideas at me please :)

Ooooh i've so got the travel bug now! i guess it is quite a personal preference as to where you want to do, i just have a 'feeling' about certain places that for no apparent reason (no family there or ever been there) that i really want to goto (like Norway)

Obv i would recommend New Zealand, Auzzie and fiji/Samoa/cook islands as wicked destinations- NZ is sooo beautiful and value for the pound.

Come on, give us something to work with.
    • Whats your budget?
    • How long are you looking to go for?
    • Cold climates / Hot climates?

    Fair point:

Budget - couple of grand i guess? No idea how much this stuff will cost.

Length - month to a couple of months

Climate - Would prefer a warm one but again, not overly fussed!

I've always wanted to go interrailling so I would say do that or you could combine it with greek island hopping - but unless your planning to go in the next few weeks it might be a bit chilly in the autumn.

If you want to go away later in the year then South Africa is lovely and still relatively cheap (but not as cheap as it used to be sob sob)

I loved SE Asia and once you've sorted out the flight then cost of living there is pretty damn cheap. Plus the whole Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam area is quite a well trodden backpacker route so it's easy to make your away around and meet other people as well.

My friend's organising an inter-railing trip at the moment and it sounds amazing! It's not that expensive and I like the freedom.

The only big question for travelling with me is whether to go on my own, or find someone to go with. What are you doing?

Well at the moment it looks like i would go on my own, i dont mind really as long as i know of places where other lone travellers stay etc so i have the chance to meet new people.

If you are by yourself hostels are good for meeting other travellers, and CouchSurfing is good for meeting locals (assuming you are a nice person :p )
I myself have just got back from Canada- still jet lagged :( thoroughly recommend it! Huge country, plenty to do, friendly people and averaged price (similar to UK prices)

Every one I have spoken to that has been inter railing had a blast too though :)

My brother did that, albeit 30 or so years ago. Said he had a great time and settled down in Denmark. Porn and bacon what more could a man want ?

A few I've wanted to do are China by train, Scandinavia by car, and Japan (North to South) by car or train. Japan would probably be really expensive though. The other two are ones you could make savings on.

I went round China, Vietnam and Cambodia by train when my dad lived in China. I was only about 8 or something so I don't remember names of places and stuff, but I had a fantastic time, as did my father.

My best friend traveled around Europe for 6 weeks and said it was the most amazing experience of her life. I'm planning on going to Iceland next month because it just looks out of this world :d

I'm touring America in March for two months on around £2500, then moving on to Canada as I can work out there legally on a working holiday visa. It's near impossible to work in the USA legally as a tourist.

Always wanted to tour Europe, but because everything is so near I felt the need to go further and use Europe for long weekend breaks and week long holidays. I love living in Europe for this reason, everywhere is so accessible for someone living in the UK!

You could do Aus, NZ and Thailand in one trip - that'd be fantastic. No point going all that way and not making the most of it. :D

Yeah im starting to think that way now, about Europe being closer and do-able in several shorter trips. I'm seriously thinking about working/travelling in Austrailia for 6/12 months now. Hmmmmm choices!
