    What the fuck?

That's really weird. Sounds like something from a mid-90s SNES game.

If you go to the folder, C:\Windows\Media you'll see your standard Windows sound files and a few other MIDI files. Check out Flourish and Town. The three go together.

    Super Nintendo (Entertainment Sys)

I done what you said, this just makes no noise. 4 minutes of nothing. Sound works everywhere else, but that won't make any output. My bass seems to not work now too :/

Super Nintendo (SNES) and the Sega Megadrive were the 2 main games consoles from 1991 until 1995. This was the era when Mario and Sonic became famous.

    lol...

That's like asking "what is a car?". This is what we did in our youth. Oh god, I'm getting sentimental (gets his snes out and plays mario)

oh btw. For all those in the snes generation. You can download a SNES emulator (get snes9x) and all the roms (the snes games) from the internet. Buy a USB game pad and play snes on your computer. I completed far more games this way than with the original snes. And this is exactly what I'm gonna do now... yea

Likewise with the Megadrive, you can emulate it using Gens GS (not to be confused with Gens). Any idea where I can buy a Megadrive-style joypad? The ones I see in Game and PC World are more geared towards Playstation with the analogue sticks and front buttons. I was hoping to get one with just a d-pad and A B C buttons.

I guess those of us who were around for the old days of computer games systems (Atari, Amiga, Nintendo, etc) are quite privileged to have been witnesses to their evolution into the super-advanced systems we have nowadays!

When playing SNES I used the PS as a socket for the TV so it was in a higher place.

    SNES > all.

Play one, you will regret saying that, seriously! :) I still have all the old consoles in my cupboard. I don't have the correct cables to put them to my TV though, they broke. :( Specially my Dreamcast. I keep meaning to buy a new cable for that thing.

What were your favourite Megadrive games peeps?

My most faved was Probotector - a side scrolling beat-'em-up but it was all guns, lasers, bombs and of course robots, lots of robots! Something which made the game special was that it was almost boss after boss, with very little time for 'grinding'. Plus, the game had 6 endings and a 7th secret ending, depending on what decisions you chose in your earlier levels.

I was also fond of Sonic 2, more than any of the other Sonic games. Sonic 2 introduced the hold down + rev up spin, and the special stage was revolutionary for its time. Plus, the music for level 2 (Chemical Plant) rocked!

Sonic and Knuckles was great, the ability to plug in another cartridge and play as Knuckles was cool. Bomberman was awesome (though not Sega-specific).
